One painting in the exhibition -MAASAI WOMEN: A CHAPTER CELEBRATION DIVERSE EXPRESSIONS IN REALISM, Baltimore, MD in 2006. The portrayal is of newly befriended sister in laws. On the left sister 'Sabtecha' (meaning surrender) has just completed the consumation period as a new bride from a clan different from her sister in law - 'Sabta' (breakthrough). Sabta is welcoming Sabtecha to the women folk and her left arm and hand typifies acceptance. Sabtecha has well prepared for the encounter as seen in her elaborated costume attempting to match the handiwork of her new sister 'Sabta' in many details. Maasai people wear lots of scarlet because reportedly red colorblinds lions. A feeling of warmth and continuity prevails in the linking of the multi-layer neck-fashion typical of Maasai. All fears are dispelled now in Sabtecha because as she enters into hutch the touch of her sister gives her permission to call her Maasister.
