Description

I am showing the progression of the War Orphan painting in steps. In this step I show the underlying tones of the skin. Often I paint in a background first, but in this case I am undecided about a background, so I clean-up the background of the face by putting a Gesso filling in the girl's
covering. Sometimes you can over work it. But I do this often in my paintings, that is shoot it in stages. If I decide later on to change it, I have somewhere to change it from.
